Dr Pemberton Ford has been working in the field of equalities management, gender mainstreaming and inclusion in business, public services, higher education and policing for the last two decades.
Senior partner in IbixInsight LLP, a consultancy specialising in diversity, equality and social inclusion, Carrie brings expertise in quantitative and qualitative research, change management strategies, cultural translation, organisational psychology, executive coaching, training and learning dynamics, group facilitation, establishing supportive networks, assessment centre methodologies and raising the compliance threshold in the area of equalities delivery. She is the author of a number of high level, policy influencing reports and academic articles in peer reviewed journals.
A passionate and knowledgeable speaker, and trainer of trainers, Carrie enables delegates to make the connections they require to build inclusive energy and systems into their own work spaces and environments. As a UK government Women’s National Commissioner, Carrie was responsible for the development of promoting BMEA (Black Minority Ethnic Asian) participation in the WNC itself and built with colleagues an impressive increase in ethnic minority presence in Public Appointments during her public tenure. Carrie has spent over a decade working in particular in the area of Human Rights based interventions in the realm of Human Trafficking and directs the Cambridge Centre for Applied Research in Human Trafficking which take on international research, training and curriculum development in this sector. Carrie also has a discrete practice in Executive Coaching – working in particular with talent progression and enabling the breakthrough of women into the Boardroom. She trained with the Institute of Leadership and Management and offers pro bono mentoring and coaching to African businesswomen through the Cherie Blair Foundation. She is a dedicated solutions finder being an accredited Civil Mediator, (London School of Mediation) and a founder of the UK based International Federation of Coaching Professionals.
In 2013 Carrie assisted in the development of a Gender Diversity tool which has been deployed across the Australian mining sector, and her Australian colleague Susanne Moore will be delivering lectures within the series which Carrie is chairing. A rapid surveying tool with real teeth, this will be an opportunity to have a powerful take-away which can be delivered into a range of organisations, facilitating clear bench-marking for future development and monitoring of impact.
Carrie is a graduate of Oxford University, (Politics and Philosophy) Durham University (Theology), the Open University (MBA part 1) and carries a PhD from the University of Cambridge (Theology, Anthropology and Gender Studies). She has worked in a number of international contexts including D.R Congo, Republic of South Africa, India, Poland, Belgium, Canada and the former Yugoslavia.
